Yep. I said it. Better. Than. Chocolate. Even at approximately 248 months pregnant - if ever there was an excuse that #chocolateislife - there are some things that are, well, just a little bit better. Granted, not many, but definitely some.
To be completely honest, I’ve never really been a huge sweets eater. Even as a child, I remember asking my parents for money instead of eggs for Easter (hustler from way back!). I’m all for eating chocolate with every meal if that’s your thing but I, personally, would prefer a lavish platter of soft cheeses, delicious dips, crackers and exotic sounding fruits, paired perfectly with a glass of wine *drool*. My sister on the other hand, brings her own family-sized block of Cadbury to every event, discreetly hidden in her handbag. You know, “just in case” (and just for her).
More so, now that I’m a Mum, a years plus supply of chocolate in one day is just not my go to gift for my kids, or anyone’s really, and it’s certainly not my idea of fun. “What’s the Easter equivalent of Bah Humbug?” I hear you ask. Yes, yes, what a party pooper. I’m just really one to avoid as much of the sugar high - and crash; cue tantrums and tummy aches - as possible. Plus I really get a kick out of giving something with a bit more longevity.
In our family, it’s usually a couple of eggs and new winter pyjamas. Sometimes we even go a little bit Gatsby and throw in a pair of slippers. I know. It’s hard not to feel jealous of our exciting life!
But I struggle to believe that I am alone in this approach, and as such, I present to you “The Better than Chocolate Easter Gift Guide for Those Who want to Avoid the Sugar Crash” (Because that’s way nicer than referring to people like you and I as Easter Grinches!)

Whether you come from a long line of avid Easter Egg hunters or not (I’m the latter and I still resent my parents for it), these adorable crochet baskets from 3 Little Hens are a must for all your Easter goodies! Available in three different sizes, with or without handles, they are the perfect way to collect or present your Easter gifts, as well as neatly storing your babes little knick-knacks long after the Bunny has left.

Now, if there’s one box I really like my gifts to tick, it’s their usefulness. I like to think that most parents are like me when it comes to navigating the daily obstacle course of cheap, pointless toys that just seem to multiply and add to my never ending list of chores. That’s why I love these Alby Blox Lacing Toys, which help your little one work on their fine motor skills. Or you could take the Easter games up a notch with their wooden Egg and Spoon Race sets. It’s every parents dream - good old-fashioned fun without the mess!

Now I’m not a fan of using ‘baby’ and ‘noise’ in the same sentence, let alone when it refers to actual noisy baby toys but, I have been converted! Baby Noise’s Easter range of wooden percussion toys are hard to go past as a non-chocolate Easter gift for babes 6mths plus. Their beautiful Wooden Egg Shakers have been designed specifically for little hands to help advance hand-eye coordination. Baby noise aside (see what I did there?), they are a beautiful touch to any nursery as a stunning décor item.
Renowned for their minimalist style that oozes adult cool, Huxbaby’s Easter range combines a clean aesthetic with playful graphics, and as a mum of a pigeon pair (with a surprise on the way!), I love that their gender-neutral designs allow you the freedom to buy once and buy well!

If your babe is relatively fresh in the world, then you may want to grab a couple of Indera Beads' incredible teethers! They stock and create THE cutest (and safest!) designs, but the bunnies deserve an extra special mention being so close to Easter. Available in three colours, they are the silkiest BPA free silicone on the market. I’m also a huge fan of their amazing gifts for mums, so make sure you check out their entire range while you’re there – you may even pick up a cheeky gift for yourself or for a little lady in your life!
Want to set the perfect scene for your babes to wake up to come Easter morning? Mocked has made all of our dreams come true with their Easter Bunny Footprint stencil! After the success of their Santa Footprint, they couldn't help but create an Easter equivalent and I am so thrilled that they did. Mocked has made creating that Easter magic that much easier for parents everywhere, and honestly, what’s cuter than watching the excitement on your kids faces as they follow the footprints towards the gifts the Bunny has left for them come Easter morning?! Be sure to check out their full Easter collection so you're all set come the big day!
Page and Pine’s Easter Memory Game encourages quality time with your little loves and promotes learning. With seven beautifully designed pairs, each engraved into sustainable blonde timber, they are lightweight and the perfect size for little hands. This gift is about simplicity, taking us back to a time when games weren’t all about iPads and fancy gadgets. Create special moments with your children they will remember for years to come.
The perfect gift for your fashion forward babe (and not just for the ladies!) I have been a huge fan of Top Knot Girl for a while and Holly’s Easter release does not disappoint! With top knots and headbands available in a range of different designs and styles, you’ll be sure to find something that is perfect for your little love. But what really gives me #allthefeels are the bonnets, complete with – yep, you guessed it – bunny ears! You can even get a matching set so dolly can get into the Easter spirit too!
